LNUR Branchline standard v1.0

The LNUR Branchline Standard extends the LNUR Northern Layout standards to enable a modular system for a branchline railway.

Aims of this standard

This standard aims to create a modular branchline system for building extensions to – or entirely independent layouts – of the Northern layout.

The standards below are not fully-formed and rely on the northern layout standards for completeness.

A. Landscape module standard

1. A module is 64×64 studs
2. Corners are 128×128 studs, with a cut out of 64×64 studs in the interior corner.
3. The external edges of modules must be 2 bricks and 1 plate high at the connecting edges, creating a small cutting for the railway to run in. Within your module or supermodule, you can vary your landscape as needed.

 

B. Track and clearances

1. A module is 64×64 studs
2. Track placement must be in the inner or outer position at the edge of your module or supermodule:
   1. The outer track loop connects at 24 studs to centre of the track from the front of the module at both connecting ends.
   2. The inner track loop connects at 40 studs (to centre of the track) from the front of the module at both connecting ends.
3. Pointwork or curves used on the running lines must be a minimum of r104. This is currently larger than the minimum radius on the mainline modules.
4. Ballast should extend 2 studs from the either edge of sleepers. This is 4 studs on the mainline.
